The Mecca. East meets West Power Yoga. Do it.
Ok friends. Bryan Kest Power Yoga is my favorite yoga teacher/studio in Los Angeles. His classes are the perfect blend of a “workout” and a spiritual experience. Legit (Eastern) yoga isn’t supposed to be a cardiovascular workout, but the Western world has made it one. HOWEVER, Bryan’s classes blend the essence of true yoga with a physical component that makes you sweeeattttt (yes, please). He makes sure his students are fully present. No looking around, no judging yourself or others. His classes fill up completely and they are full of yoga pros but also yoga beginners. The poses and flows aren’t hard, but he teaches the class in a way that makes you feel every movement, so you will be sore the next day. It’s Vinyasa Flow, so you don’t do many handstands or inverted poses. There is a meditation component (before savasana). The studio name is Power Yoga Santa Monica. The classes are donation based and you don’t need to sign up beforehand! That whole signing up online for a yoga class drives me nuts. Heads up, Bryan teaches classes and yoga retreats around the world, so check the schedule for substitute teachers. But seriously, if there was ever a yoga studio to recommend, this is in the top 5. Go here. I’m obsessed.
To recap:
Pros: Amazing class, great workout, spiritual, donation based, no need to signup beforehand, easy parking, full classes
Cons: Bryan teaches classes around the world, so check the schedule for subs, no showers, cash/check only
